Moth

Today when I was out, I found this big pretty moth in the subway, so of course I needed to save it. I got it outside to around our house where I put it on a tree

It almost refused to let me go. They have these hooks on their feet to be able to stay put for a long period of time even if it's windy, and it was really stuck to me. Didn't matter how I turned my hand, it sat where it sat.

A real beauty according to me. I really loved it and I think the photographs turned out well too. The lower wings had a large blue cirkle each which you can see a bit of on the upper picture.

with some search and the help of ~author-greg I have decided it to be a Smerinthus ocellata (Eyed Hawk-Moth) ^^ and with the body looking like it does, I suspect it to be a female. So, her name is now Maple ^^
